People ask, “If God exists, why does He allow suffering in the world?” Some point to this as evidence against God. Others say that God gave us free will and we reap the consequences. But I believe something else. I’ve learned that within suffering lies the seed of our salvation. You know the saying: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” We are motivated to change by our suffering. When we ignore life’s lessons, God / The Universe will turn up the volume until we respond. How much we suffer is up to us. The trick is to listen before we hit rock bottom. Seeking advice from others is also helpful (wink, wink).

Through my failed marriage, I overcame narcissistic abuse and my own codependency. From co-parenting with a toxic ex-wife, I can show up as emotionally healthy and grounded for my daughter. And by the many blessings of The Roaring 20s, I can see the hand of God at work in our time.
